FAQ

Questions and answers

What we are asked most before a flight.

Your flight

We fly the Robinson 44, a small four-seat helicopter about the size of a Fiat 500. The pilot takes one of the front seats, which leaves room for three guests.

Every flight carries three people, unless you have bought a private flight with the whole helicopter to yourselves.

You may weigh up to 120 kg. If you weigh more than 90 kg, you need to buy two seats. The helicopter can lift at most 250 kg in total for three passengers.

Yes. If you are very tall, we recommend the front seat, which has the most legroom.

Yes, everyone is welcome. We recommend that children under 10 fly with an adult or an older child.

Be at the address 15 minutes before your flight time. You receive the address by e-mail when you book, and again 24 hours before the flight.

Yes, bring whoever you like. If you fly from an airport, they cannot go airside, so they cannot take pictures of you in front of the helicopter.

Yes, you may livestream, film and take pictures in the helicopter. A very large camera must not get in the pilot’s way – write to kontakt@helicompany.dk if in doubt.

No, food and drink are not allowed in the helicopter.

Congratulations! Yes, you are welcome to fly as long as your pregnancy is without complications.

There is a step of about 80 cm up into the helicopter, so you need to be able to step up or be lifted in by a helper, and to sit upright without support. A helper who flies with you needs a seat of their own. The pilots do not help with lifting.

Flight days and cancellations

We plan 1–2 flight days a month in each town, depending on bookings, and gift cards can only be used on those days. To fly on another day, we can usually offer a private flight from Kolding, Randers or Roskilde for a supplement of DKK 900. Gift cards from a partner cannot be used on a day of your choice.

The season runs from April to October, when we fly at least one day a month in every town. From October to April we only fly from selected towns: Kolding, Randers and Roskilde. We fly from Roskilde all year.

Safety comes first, so we cancel if the weather or the aircraft does not allow flying. We need at least 5 km visibility, cloud at 1,200 ft (450 m) or higher for sightseeing, and no more than 25 knots of wind (about 12–13 m/s).

We fly when at least 15 people have booked a flight day. Flying the helicopter to a town is expensive, and to keep prices down we fly many guests, three at a time. Otherwise we offer you extra seats to buy or a new date.

We depend heavily on the weather. We cancel as early as we can, but we cannot predict the weather and never compromise on safety – so a cancellation can come at the last minute. If your flight is cancelled, we contact you to rebook, and you fly another day, even if your gift card has expired.

Yes, when your flight is more than 7 days away you can log in and rebook it.

Unfortunately not. We plan each day well ahead to make it as good as possible, and can rarely fill the seat with another guest.

Gift cards

If the gift card was bought from us, book your flight and pay with the gift card as you book. If it is a voucher or gift card from a partner, redeem it under Gift cards → Redeem a gift card.

No, just book your flight well before it expires. Questions about a gift card from another provider go to that provider. To extend a gift card bought from us, call 29 91 03 76 or write to kontakt@helicompany.dk.

If you bought the seats or the gift card from us, you are guaranteed to fly together. With a partner’s gift card, buy the third seat on the flight to be sure – otherwise we may have to split you up on the day.

Yes. Choose the flight you want when you book and register your gift card. We send you a bill for the difference afterwards.

No, an experience is for one person – two people cannot, for example, split a 20-minute gift card into 10 minutes each. To bring one or two others, book for three and register your gift card; we send a bill afterwards.

No. Opleve.com is bankrupt and we do not accept its gift cards. Please contact Opleve at www.opleve.com.

HeliSchool

HeliCompany runs its own school, HeliSchool. You start with a trial lesson – helicopter pilot for a day – which is the first lesson towards a private pilot licence.

A private helicopter licence, to fly friends and family, costs about DKK 300,000. To fly helicopters for a living, expect DKK 1,000,000–1,200,000.

The type we fly, the Robinson 44, costs around DKK 7,000,000 new.
